My Role
As a professional therapist, I do not see you as a problem to fix. We are all human and we all struggle. My job is to support you through your struggles, non-judgmentally.
It has been shown that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of counseling, above therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities used. Therefore, it is important that we work well together. It is my ethical duty to refer you to another therapist if I cannot help you for one reason or another. I will also share when I think we are going to be a great fit. I hope that you share your feelings about this during our consultation or in any session in our work together.
Please do note that my approach to therapy is relational, exploratory, and depth-oriented; focused on lasting internal shifts rather than quick symptom relief. Although some clients experience changes– and often, symptom reduction, early on, my therapy style is best suited for those who are interested in depth therapy. At times, certain issues arise that may be better approached by a different treatment modality, and I will do my best to help you find a better fit.
